Head Coach – Ashbourne Rugby Women’s Team

Ashbourne Rugby Club are inviting applications for the role of Head Coach for the launch of our newly formed Women’s Senior Team. This marks an exciting new era for Ashbourne RFC of a return to Women’s Rugby at our club, at a time where our Youths Girls teams are expanding in numbers all the time, and the desire to have a Women’s team in the local and surrounding areas is extremely strong. Our Men’s sides have had unprecedented success in recent years, and we would be ambitious for success with our Women’s team to follow suit.

The club is renowned for its state-of-the-art facilities and is one of the best playing / training surfaces in Ireland. Ashbourne Rugby is committed to the continued development of women’s and girls’ rugby. This also includes standalone and self-contained Womens/Girls dressing rooms

 

THE COACH

  • Hold a Stage 3 IRFU Coaching Accreditation or be a Stage 2 Coach working towards their Stage 3 Accreditation.
  • Have a good understanding of Ireland’s women’s and girls’ game and the rugby landscape through previous coaching or playing experience.
  • Have experience and a proven track record of achievement in developing players, including late beginners and players from other codes, to reach their potential.
  • Management and organisation skills to lead the Club’s women’s rugby program while leading assistant coaches, captains, and other volunteers.
  • Ability to lead, motivate and engage ladies and girls’ players throughout the Club.

 

THE ROLE

  • Act as the Head Coach for the Women’s club XV
  • To coordinate with assistant coach(s) and Manager and plan / deliver appropriately fundamental skills, understanding of the game in challenging training sessions.
  • To act as the Head Coach and prepare players on match days for the Women’s club team.
  • Support the Club in player recruitment, retention, and development, and engage with the Youth girl’s programme.
  • Most importantly to create a thriving, enjoyable and competitive environment for the players to learn and play rugby.
  • Reporting to the Director of Rugby

Survey Input Required

There is an an IRFU Youth Council project that we have been asked to let people know about.
The Council have developed a survey aimed at those aged 14-24, to find out more about their experiences of the pandemic.
The responses will be collated to form a document to aid clubs in the retention and recruitment of players ahead of the 2020/21 season.

Rugby Gets the Green Light to start its Return

Ashbourne RFC are delighted to se that conditions in Public Health have improved and training, in PODs of 15, has returned. Last week the Youths and Mini's returned and w/b the 10th of May the adult section can commence.

Ashbourne RFC have all the Covid protocols in place and we believe we have a safe environment ready to support this return to training roadmap. The IRFU have published their plan and it is attached.

Please keep safe and hopefully we can return to normality soon

Dear Member,
In accordance with the club’s constitution, on behalf of the club I hereby serve notice of the club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM). It will take place as indicated above and is essential that we have a good attendance at the meeting. It is open to all paid up full members to take part.
This has been an unusual time for us all and we delayed the meeting in light of Covid-19, but with the new season kicking off on the 5th of September the Executive felt it would be good to have AGM as well. The plan to hold the meeting in a virtual manner online, due to the current restrictions on people gatherings.
The AGM is an important opportunity to reflect on what has occurred during the season and plan for the upcoming year. The club is also looking for new people to become involved the running of the club through the Executive and would welcome this support. If interested please contact me, or any member of the Executive. There are roles to suit all and the time you would have available to help.
We look forward to your attendance.

Leinster League Champions 2019/2020

Great Day At Energia Park

Ashbourne took the Leinster League title for the 2nd time in 3 years with a 26 point to 10 win over 3rd placed Bective. Gorey also bet second placed Suttonians so once the bonus point try was scored yesterday, Ashbourne ha date league a they could not be caught.

Tries from Justin Whittaker, Shane Bass, Jack O'Brien and a penalty try plus 3 conversions from captain Gavin Kennedy saw the team home, in one of their nest performances of the season.

The trophy will be presented on the 9th of February, when we host Seapoint in our last home league game. There is one more after that away to Gorey the following week.

The AIL round robin will be at the end of March with two home games to the Ulster and Connacht champions, while we will visit the Munster winners, and possibly Kilfeacle in that one.

Well done to entire squad and the coaching team but most of all the 2nd XV squad whop have support the 1st team all season.

They had also great win yesterday when they also beat Bective by 25 points to 20 with tries from Conor Malone, Eugene Gallagher, Conor Creaby and Tim Lawrence, with Cathal Field added a conversion and a penalty. Great stuff lads and the applauded Bective who had one the league at their presentation after the game.

Well done to all the players and the great bunch of supporters who were their yesterday
