1981/82

The Club went on to Junior 1 competition in the 1981/82 Season, going down to Seapoint in the final of the Spencer Cup in Donnybrook. Throughout the 80’s Ashbourne remained a competitive side with many fine teams and characters coming through the club. Life in the Metro area was difficult and very competitive as the Leinster Leagues as we know it now did not exist.

After match refreshments were had in various locations throughout Ashbourne until the arrival of the Coolquay Lodge under Roy Maguire and the club based itself there until we open our on own club house in Milltown House. The Rollestown Inn owned by the Kettles was also a frequent spot, especially for the Swords gang. Many a Tuesday and Thursday training session was undone contemplating the weekend games till late!
