Huber Ireland Announced as a New Ashbourne RFC Sponsor

2023 BANK OF IRELAND LEINSTER SCHOOLS SENIOR CUP PREVIEW

🏉 Ashbourne RFC will be well represented when the Leinster Schools Senior Cup kicks off this Sunday at Donnybrook.

U18 squad member Senan Campbell will be lining out for his school CUS while No.8 Paul Wilson captains Gonzaga College as they hope to go one step further than last year’s runners up spot.

Johnny Cahalan is expected to start for Castleknock College on the flank and will play a big part in their Cup campaign with his pace, power and football skills.

Belvedere College have prop Leinster schools representative prop Eoin McDermott, backrower Calum Fitzgerald and full back Dan Dillon included in their match day squad for Sunday and several other Ashbourne RFC U18 players have been involved at various stages in their wider senior squad during a good season to date including Jack Rees, Dan Cox, Calum Creaven, Rory O’Driscoll, Ben Braniff, Niall O’Meara, Troy Mahon, Patrick Heade and Richard Finegan.

All the best to all of the Ash RFC lads in the coming months in this competition.

Ashbourne U15 V Greystones

Ashbourne v Greystones
Sunday 8th January was a big day for the U15’s Ashbourne Rugby Team, taking to the field for their first game in the Leinster Premier 1 Division. The team have made massive strides over the past year and were promoted to the Premier 1 Division in early December 2022.
Greystones RFC were the visitors and Ashbourne Rugby Club won the game with a fantastic display of forward and back play, running in the majority of their scores in the first half of the match.
At half time Ashbourne had a good lead however Greystones are a class side and got back into the game running in two early tries at the start of the second half.
Ashbourne dominated the last ten minutes of the game holding Greystones in their 22 and ended the game victorious with a score of 31 to 26.
Ashbourne try scores on the day were Ryan Ennis, David Soden and Matthew Kenny and three conversions by Ryan Ennis.
Thanks to Greystones RFC for a great game.
The team play Cill Dara away this Sunday 15th January.

AB Under 14's V Portdara

AB (Ashbourne Rugby Club and Balbriggan RFC) took on Portdara in Balbriggan on Saturday in the Leinster League.
The first half saw AB dominate with a hard won try by captain Thelma giving AB an early lead. Full back Aoife displayed super athleticism to win 4 more try's, converting 3.
The second half saw strong defense against a fast and physical Portdara side however AB s communication and team work, quality passing and positioning, and commitment stood to the side in an exciting match.
Well done girls!

Soden and Tahiraji Represent the North East and Ashbourne in the Shane Hogan Cup

Well done to Isaac Soden and Fabian Tahiraji were the Ash RFC representatives in action yesterday for North East Leinster in the Shane Horgan Cup.
